  • Covestro is one of the world's largest polymer companies. Its business focuses on manufacturing high-performance materials and developing innovative solutions for products used in many areas of everyday life.

  • In Spain, Covestro has four production centers with a workforce of over 500 people. They are located in Tarragona, Barcelona, Parets del Vallès, and Santa Margarida i els Monjos. Diverse sectors such as construction, automotive, water treatment, food industry, and packaging benefit from the innovative products manufactured in our country.

  • In Tarragona, there is an MDA plant, an MDI plant - the necessary precursor for producing polyurethane foams - and a chlorine plant with unique technology in the world that allows a 25% reduction in energy expenses. The plants also produce caustic soda and hydrochloric acid. There is also a rail logistics hub and various infrastructures available for other companies located in Covestro's chemical park facilities.

  • The plants in the province of Barcelona (Zona Franca, Parets del Vallès, and Santa Margarida i el Monjos) produce materials for coatings and adhesives used in sectors such as construction, mobility, or furniture, among others.

  • PROJECT INFORMATION

  • Covestro S.L. aims to offer Master's students in Chemical Engineering from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili the opportunity to carry out an internship, as well as the final master's thesis, at their industrial facilities in Tarragona, Barcelona, Parets del Vallès, and Santa Margarida i els Monjos.

The range of topics covers the development and improvement of production processes, as well as studies to enhance energy efficiency, including various environmental, safety, or management issues. For example: Maintenance Management at process facilities, designing and defining strategies, a study of causes, conducting error analyses, and studies of equipment and facility reliability.

  • The experience at Covestro will combine office work with fieldwork, integrated into a multidisciplinary team that will provide the necessary support to achieve the goals of both the student and the company. The student will be in contact with external technicians and internal personnel from other departments of the company, both at the national and international levels. Therefore, competence and proficiency in English are required, and expertise in other languages will also be considered.
